I see people at football matches hunting for old programmes and have to wonder why they bother. Enlighten me please ?

Cos they can't afford season tickets so i guess a programme is the next best best thing? Maybe not, i dunno.

Often they are worth quite a bit of money after a few years, especially cup finals and other big games. I used to sell them on Ebay and did alright.

so theyll be worth money in years to come or just a keepsake
perhaps they are worth some money to other people who are hunting for them, or to give to people who couldnt make it to the game.
Why collect anything, they have an interest in matches gone by probably.
as a kid i used to keep every newspaper article on man utd, and taped every match off the radio and kept them. My wardrobe was a foot deep in paper! my mum threw them out when i left home - have never forgiven her lol!
The same reason philatelists collect stamps, it just bings their zinger.
As reminders of their teams achievements and past glories. Fun to reminisce about past matches and players and the programmes act as mental stimuli.
